Disputes about child arrangements
Should your children live with you? Do you want to spend time with your children? Are there safeguarding issues that worry you? These are common problems that you do not need to face alone.
When relationships break down, agreeing on what will happen with your child or your children can often be the most difficult challenge you will face. If you can’t agree, then you might need to go to court. I can help you with any of the issues below, and more.
Children Law FAQs
What are child arrangements orders
These are court orders which decide who children live with, and the arrangements for spending time with the other parent. We tend not to use words like "custody" or "residence" any more.
How are decisions made about child arrangements?
Sometimes with advice from Cafcass or a local authority social worker, or sometimes by the court listening to what both parents say, and the views of children. The decision must always put the welfare of the children first.
Can I move home with my child?
When life takes you to a new location I can help you navigate the legalities and secure the best possible outcome for you and your family. I have considerable experience on the subject of relocation, advising and assisting parents with moves both within the UK and internationally
My ex was abusive to me or my child. Does that matter?
If you believe your ex is a safeguarding risk to you and/or your child then you should seek advice and support ASAP. Children should have a relationship with their parents when it safe for them to do so.
What if my ex has made false allegations about me?
You have a right to challenge allegations if they are going to affect the arrangements for your children. I can help you respond to allegations made within the Family Court.
I am worried my ex is alienating my children against me.
Alienating behaviours is a serious issue. It can cause children serious emotional and psychological harm. I have dealt with many cases involving alienating behaviours and can assist if yours is one of them
